What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?
My favorite board game was LIFE and a close second to Monopoly. These games were played in my neighbors basement where he dad made the first ever man cave but it was the 80’s so they called it the basement with a “bar” and “tv”. It was the freedom room; a room where kids got to be unsupervised while parents got to watch their soap operas. This board game LIFE was played so much it gave us false hope of what was a required to live life. Marriage, 3 kids, minivan oh my but the ability to create and dream was had well after the game was over. I remember making origami and and finding out the results of who I would marry and how many kids. This was my first real introduction to “tarot readings” and future predictions. I was hooked! It was fun having kids in the block who were 2 doors down who had the same amount of kids and age range. As I grew older board games became a thing of the past and were replaced with video games and MTV. That’s truly when the game of life fell apart. Simple times made for simpler games and I really do miss putting my future husbands name on paper and getting excited that my future was bright. The lesson here is to create the life you dream of and don’t let society tell you that marriage and 3 kids make you happy. The irony is people who chose to follow the cookie cookie life game get BORED and the ones who took a chance on a dream life didn’t need a BOARD to spin.
