Funny Follows Me

I would either go to Hawaii or the Grand Cayman Islands. When I was in my early 20s and the year was 1991. I had a friend whose mother was a travel agent and booked trips every year. She knew her job well and took me on a trip to “the ABC” islands. First to Aruba where I learned what wind burn was and they we had a tiny plane fly us to Curaçao. The plane ride was prior to the Grey’s Anatomy plane crash. Once we arrived we had to drive inland to the most quiet serene place with aqua blue waters and 5 cent slot machines in the hallway. I wasn’t a high roller 🤣. We spent 4 days there and when I left I cried all the way to the airport as the song by boys to men “End of the Road” played. Everyday was quiet with soft sand at my feet and every night it was an amazing dinner on the water. So, I want that feeling back again. Almost 30 years have passed and I still think of that trip as the closest thing to heaven. My illness RA stops me from doing a lot but at least my mind can always look at my pictures and hope I get a chance to jump on a plane and revisit paradise.
