TRUST God

Well, since I sold and moved last year I had to move for the first time in my life with my possessions. I got quotes to move and just couldn’t understand the high cost for only having a few things. I chose to go cheap and get my own home depot boxes and then hire a independent contractor who was locally known. Boy, that was a mistake.

What I learned after moving and getting a storage unit is I don’t need much and when you move, only bring things that don’t have negative emotions on them. What I didn’t realize was that I had to get rid of 99% of my possessions. Furniture, clothing, appliances and even SHOES (gasp).

It didn’t happen all in one move but I have the smallest storage unit now and live in the smallest place with LESS but bought all new things that made my move feel like a fresh start.

I do have that 1% that I kept of things that are sentimental and that’s allowed. I’ve learned to take a picture of things, and then let it go. I’ve also learned the more you hang on to things and clutter your house, your mind and life will follow suit. A clean uncluttered house will make you think clearer.

While downsizing each time I donated to Good Will I felt relief. I got to know the guys so much that one guy said, “Can I ask you a question? Did you go through a bad divorce because your giving us brand new stuff! I said no divorce but I’m letting go of a live I bought things for and how my new life isn’t that life so why keep things that will never be used? With each visit, my load was lighter and I felt better. After realizing that people who shopped at GoodWill would really find a bargain, I let it all go and gave away a Calvin Klein ball gown. I had tried to postmark it but shipping a dress with a train just wasn’t going to happen. So I pulled up to GoodWill and started taking out the clothing and I told the guys, I hope today somebody sees this dress and falls in love. It served me well and now it will be a dream dress and hold even better memories.

The way he carried the dress made me crack and smile and laugh since he knew this was a special dress. I had held on to it for at least 10 years but it was classic black and just perfect.

I’ve gone down to almost losing all my possessions and it’s hard at first but God will bring you NEW things and when I used to see the attached picture I used to think, wow, that’s a hard lesson to learn.

You must trust God to bring you to ground 0 and to rebuild your life because he has a plan and it’s a much better than the “clutter” you had before.
