If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?
I would choose to meet Princess Diana. I’m not a fan of royalty but I was up early to watch Princess Diana wed Price Charles.
I was so clueless about the royal empire, I thought that the late Queen had a brother prince Philip! Yes, a dumb blonde moment. She was married to Prince Philip but to my eyes he was always behind her and later realized that was tradition.
Princess Diana was the mischievous one and I could relate to that. I admired her for her grace and her commitment to helping others. Once she had children, I admired her more for her reprimanding her children and taking her kids with her on her missions on helping people with HIV and helping bring awareness to land mines. Her children were royalty but to her they were just kids who needed their mother.
When her car crashed in the tunnel the world watched, glued to the TV once again but this time to pray that this was all a bad dream. The next morning we woke up to news of her death. Elton John wrote a special version of Candle in the Wind just for her. Collectively, we mourned the loss of, “the people’s princess”.
If I met her I would want to know what happened that night and was she murdered.
