Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

First off, a random act of kindness should be done with your heart and not to be boasted about since that is coming from a place of ego.

Now, playing devils advocate, I think that every day random acts of kindness are done for the thrill of Facebook likes and accommodations by soul less people. I know that’s harsh but I’m telling you the worst first to show you the value of the best.

I used to bake fondant incredibly designed cakes and joined up with an organization called Icing Angels. It is a 10 year old organization that recruits bakers to make cakes for sick and dying children. I enlisted and was called 3 times to do cakes; each more emotional than the rest.

My first cake was a Cars “Madar” truck that pushed my professional skills to the max but with the help of google, I created a dream cake a boy named Dylan. I got to put his name on the cake.

So the day had arrived to deliver the cake at a local meeting ground since they lived far away. Usually you just drop off the cake and don’t really interact with the child who the cake is for. So when I arrived at the local supermarket I saw the mother come out of her car and she knew it was me as I approached her and opened my trunk. My cakes were heavy and driven with love and anti skid pads which I always provided to the next person driving the cake home. Average cakes took 14 hours or 2-3 days worth so these were not “hold it in on your lap” cakes.

I showed her the cake and she began to well up with tears of joy. She said, “Thank you so much but can I hug you because I just feel like hugging you”. This was pre covid so of course I said yes. Her genuine gratitude for the cake was so heart felt I knew why the organization is called Icing Angels. We were just vessels to Gods work with a lot of icing and creativity. My soul was forever changed by that experience. I knew Ryder would have a great birthday and could only hope he survived his disease and think back to his Madder Cars came made by some “Angel”. Do Angels walk this earth? They do but we’re vessels through God and without his love his work would never by done. The cake pictures are below and it was all edible.
