What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

I’m 100% Italian and watched one episode of the Soprano’s so, to be honest, I’m interested in my own family history and how they came over from Italy.

I would love to travel to Italy but don’t see that happening but will settle on watching movies that are set there.

I love that one episode of Everybody Loves Raymond that is in Italy. The joy, the gelato, the men pinching. I find it all funny the stereotypes and my New York accent.

Luckily, my grandmother shared endless stories with me before she got sick and I hope to publish all that in a book about her; a way to honor her life and to connect to others who lost love ones to Dementia.

People actually ask me if I’m Italian and I’m like have you seen my last name? It didn’t even fit in the SAT forms.

So, I think I derailed a bit on todays question but I’m part Sicilian and we’re thick headed.

  1. Love this and hope you write your book soon. That would be an incredible purpose and sounds like it would be an enjoyable read, too.

    1. Thank you. It will get done – I think it’s my grandmothers legacy and an important issue since the disease occurs in younger generations. Thank you for commenting.
