Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?

My mother makes the traditional stuffed mushrooms that are out of this world. I don’t know how that is a symbol of Christmas but I’m glad that it is still around.

My grandmother used to make rice balls which now my aunt and her granddaughter have perfected as well. The tradition lives on but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to make them.

I was shown by my grandmother years ago and it didn’t end well. My fried rice balls were horizontal rice snow sledding shoes.

Traditions are good, so teach your kids the secrets to your recipes. Italians used to use egg shells to measure the ingredients which I find comical.

I read an article where somebody put the recipe spritz cookies on her gravestone in Brooklyn, NY and a person goes there and makes all the recipes she can read off the stones.

Damn, those cookies better taste like heaven to put on your gravestone.

  1. I was surprised to find that some people have put some of the traditional recipes on youtube. It is a great way to keep traditions going.

    1. That’s a super smart idea. A gravestone will decay over time no?
