Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

I was in my mid 20’s and was in my first relationship and very much in love for the first time. It was the kind of love that was filled with gifts, cards, mixed tapes and lots of thought.

Every Valentine’s Day was fun, and full of flowers, candy, stuffed animals and the unexpected.

One year, he gave me a Vermont Teddy Bear and the box it came in was so beautiful I kept it for years. To me, that was the best gift ever.

So, every gift had to get better or bigger and my ex was very creative.

So, on my Birthday, my ex delivered a dozen roses from our local florist. Soon after, the door bell rang again with my surprise.

I was still living at home and was getting out of the shower and my father answered the door.

My ex-boyfriend had his coworker come over to deliver more than flowers to me. My father yells to me to come downstairs in his calm voice. I threw my hair in a towel, my body in a wrapped towel and went down the stairs to be serenaded, “ Happy Birthday“. My blush was not needed at this point because I was so embarrassed 😳 but thought wow, what a great romantic gift if only I was dressed! Best gift ever with memories of laughter and the promise from him to never do that again!

Memorable and sweet gifts don’t always need to be unwrapped. His intention was sweet and will never be forgotten and might be the reason I never sleep in!
